Sr. UX Designer

Webgility is looking for a capable Sr. UX Designer to join the team. We’re on the precipice of some incredible growth, and we need strong people to help us as we move forward. You should be comfortable in a hands-on, collaborative and flexible environment, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and teams simultaneously while driving towards aggressive deadlines. You will work closely with engineering, product, and the rest of the design team members both internally and with partner organizations, to ensure the quality delivery of all elements required for testing, design iterations, and the long-term achievement of an incredible user experience. You will be a guiding force for some of the highest-profile initiatives in the company’s history, driving significant growth and you’ll be held to understandably high standards. The right candidate will have a passion for simplifying complex workflows to deliver customer value at scale. Job Description & Responsibilities:

  • The Sr. UX Designer will drive the design, validation, iteration, and implementation of an industry-leading experience for some of our key initiatives.
  • You will have to design experiences that convey confidence, clarity, and control, across the sensitive and complex financial data we handle.
  • Your success is when you can convey obscure, nuanced, and specialized information in layman’s terms without alienating the traditionally educated customers.
  • Our business is behind the scenes of our customer’s business, so you’ll need to practice both sympathy and empathy on a daily basis. You really must be able to stand in the shoes of the customer to solve for their pains.
  • Working in high-profile partnerships means you’ll need to leverage existing design frameworks, while always keeping the customer at the core of your focus.
  • At the same time, you should be steadfast in your application of best-practices to both the experience you’re crafting, as well as the processes you manage.
  • We are a company that prides ourselves on the impact of our work on the customer, not our ability to redesign something that already exists. You should be too.
  • Your ultimate source of truth will always be the customer, so you should absolutely love creating and getting feedback on prototypes or mockups.
  • You will balance being a design innovator with being a data-driven results achiever because you understand positive results buys time for refinement, but refinement earns nothing on it’s own, and practical/useful/intuitive are all > pretty.
  • You’ll work on your own, with Product Managers, and with User Researchers to deeply understand the core of a customer’s problem, then live and breathe that problem until it’s solved.
  • Understand that you’ll be in a very high-profile role within the company and will be expected to interact with the executive team, so should always be aware of the status, goals, and impact of what you’re working on.
  • You’ll be working hand-in-hand with teams from partner companies, which will necessitate presentation-style interactions, walkthroughs, or demos. Be prepared to represent yourself and the company well.
  • We are a Financial Data and integration product for small businesses, so you’ve got to have context about Accounting and Tax for small businesses, or a clear path to achieving it in your first 30 days.
  • Speaking of industries, you’ll need to understand e-Commerce and Retail at the small business level, or a clear path to getting there in your first 30 days.
  • We have an international team, so you’ll have to be flexible during crunch periods to do what’s needed (and when) to get the job done.
  • On the international team note: you must be able to communicate clearly over hangouts/skype, visual tools, mockups, and chat.
  • You need to be a constant learner, and someone who can structure design initiatives like Beta tests and prototype feedback sessions to maximize learning and iterate on the design.
  • You will be the arbiter of whether an experience addresses the target-market/persona/user problem or not, so you’ve got to live and breathe them.


Job Requirements:

  • BA/BS in something challenging
  • 5+ years of UX Design
  • Expertise and a proven track record successfully building accounting/financial business applications is a highly desired; SMB focus highly desired.
  • Impeccable written and verbal skills, but utter fluency in the mockup and prototyping tools of your choice - getting something completed fast is often better than having it pixel-perfect.
  • Technical knowledge. You won’t write code and we don’t expect you to, but you should understand the implications of what you design and be able to discuss.
  • Proven track record partnering with cross-functional teams and designing for successful, repeatable, product growth.
  • Ability to think like a customer, but design like an artist
  • Passion for the problems we’re solving and the path ahead of us.
